If you are considering building a website yourself, you’ve come to the right place to pick up just the right website building tools to complete the job.

You can learn a little more about how I got started by reading this story I wrote here.

You see I am not a website building guru, nor do I build websites for a living, though my websites do help me earn a living. In fact my passion for health and natural nutrition is what got me interested in gaining a website presence and making my living online in the first place.

You may be a small business owner or a work at home person who has heard that everyone needs a website these days. Or you might just have a passion that you want to share with the world.

Whatever your reasons for wanting to build your own website, you are probably now in the research phase where you are trying to figure out the best way to get started, going from website to website, not knowing who to trust, afraid of being ripped off, afraid of losing the small investment you have to make in setting up your online website business or online hobby.

And these are all legitimate concerns. I know because I had them too. Especially when I would sign up for newsletters and before long I started receiving all these “Get Rich Quick” offers. Fortunately for me, my intuition is highly developed and my B.S. radar detector is always on.

So armed with my common sense, I ventured forward and tried to fine merchants with very strong “no risk – money back guaranteed” promises. And merchants who had a strong reputation and a solid following on the web.

One of the tools I now use in assessing a reputable merchant is the Alexa Toolbar. I downloaded it at Alexa.com so that it sits conveniently on my browser. I also downloaded the Google toolbar to get extra ranking information on websites I visit.

But the Alexa.com toolbar is most telling.

For example, say for instance that you are looking for someone to help your website rank better with the search engines. Maybe you do not yet know why you want your site to rank well at search engines but the main reason is that it will drive more traffic (i.e. website buyers who are looking for your products and services) to your site. And of course the more people that find your site, the better chance you have of converting that browser into a paying customer.

So, you have a company promoting SEO (search engine optimization) services, promising that they can drive traffic to your site with search engine. So you look at their Alexa ratings and you see that they are rated number 2,589,000 out of all the websites visited on the web.

Well, what that number tells me is that that company is not doing very much to get people to their own site, so how will they be able to get people to come to mine.

Alexa also allows people to write reviews of sites they have visited and I always check to see if any reviews have been written that are negative. Negative reviews will not necessarily defer me from using a company’s service or product, because everyone knows that it is just human nature to report a negative experience with a merchant, and that satisfied customers will generally not be writing reviews unless they were extremely happy with a product or service.

One such review that I wrote was to totally blast Yahoo.com for something they did, and another was to totally praise Xtend-Life for having such wonderful customer service and products.

Beyond these few tools, it is still hard to determine who to trust when it comes to buying programs or services to help you succeed on the net.

 

Well, fortunately for me I managed to find the proper tools, almost from day one, and lost very few dollars in investing in tools that did not work for me as a newbie who knew absolutely nothing about building a website.

My biggest challenge in building my first website was in running into companies and merchants who assumed that I knew more than I did. Things like FTP or uploading a page from my computer to my website through my hosting company. Of course if you don’t know how to do that and your website hosting company doesn’t provide a manual or a video showing you how to do it, then you are back to square one. And that is called frustration.

Well, that’s enough talk. As I said, my passion is helping people to recall health to their body, mind, spirit and finances. Helping people build their own website falls loosely under the category of helping people improve their finances, because most people want to make a little money from their websites, and perhaps even a lot of money.

This Build A Website Now resource is my effort to share with you the programs that I have used to create a website and to create profit generating income from my online activities. The main programs I use and promote are listed here.

As I mentioned, one of the biggest obstacles you will come up against is knowing who to trust in releasing the funds to begin building your first site. And I am not even going to suggest that you trust me, because, as I said in the beginning, I am not a website building guru.

Don’t forget to check out their Alexa rankings. Don’t forget to ask any questions you might have about their products both before and after you purchase. All of the three featured companies have excellent customer service, and I asked each of them questions before I made a purchase--to get answers, but also to ensure that they knew that if the product did not deliver what they promised, that I would be returning it for a refund.

P.S. By the way, I do provide a free newsletter, but it is published irregularly. In fact I only send it out when I have made new website building discoveries that have helped my website business to grow.
